Lucky color today

In Thailand, many people pick the color of their shirt by the day: green for work on a Monday, red for money on a Thursday… This tool reads the Taksa wheel for you, the method behind most Thai lucky color charts: today's color in Bangkok time for your goal, the color to avoid, your wardrobe for the next seven days and the full table, ready to save or share.

Lucky color today

How it works

  1. The method is called Taksa (ทักษา, or Maha Taksa). The eight celestial bodies of Thai astrology sit in a fixed order: Sun (1), Moon (2), Mars (3), Mercury (4), Saturn (7), Jupiter (5), Rahu (8) and Venus (6). Each weekday has its ruler; Wednesday has two, Mercury by day and Rahu by night, which is why Thai birth days include "Wednesday night".

  2. You start from the ruler of the day, which takes the Boriwan role (the people around you), then move around the wheel: the next body becomes Ayu (health, long life), then Dech (power, success), Sri (good fortune, money, charm), Mula (foundations, property), Utsaha (diligence), Montri (patrons and support) and finally Kalakini, the unfavorable one. The color of a role is the color of the body that holds it that day.

  3. The colors of each body follow the most widely shared Thai charts: Sun red; Moon white, cream or yellow; Mars pink or purple; Mercury green; Saturn black, grey or brown; Jupiter orange; Rahu shimmering two-tone fabric (เหลือบ) and smoky grey; Venus light blue, often extended to blue. The first shade listed is the most common.

  4. There are two ways to read the table, and the tool offers both. The general reading starts from the day you are getting dressed: it is the "สีเสื้อมงคลประจำวัน" chart you see everywhere. The personal reading starts from your birth day; the tool then also rules out the day's Kalakini color and, if your goal color falls on it, suggests the backup role instead (Utsaha for work, Mula for money, and so on). It also tells you what the day means in your own wheel.

  5. Taksa has no dedicated "love" slot: the most common reading places charm under Sri, while some astrologers use Montri (goodwill, เมตตา); the tool shows Sri first and Montri as a second choice. "Today" always means the date in Bangkok, whatever time zone your phone is set to. To work out your birth day, the tool follows Thai astrological practice: the day begins at sunrise (6 am), and a birth on Wednesday between 6 pm and 6 am counts as Rahu.

  6. Sources: the "สีมงคลตามวันเกิด" charts published by Sanook and GotoKnow, both based on the Maha Taksa wheel, agree on the order of roles and the colors of each body; this majority version is the one applied here. Several well-known astrologers also publish a new chart every year that takes the current year into account (the Thai press, such as Bangkok Biz News, reprints them); their colors may differ and are not reproduced here. Everything runs in your browser, with no account and no data sent.

Frequently asked questions

What color should I wear today?
It depends on the day and on your goal. At the top of the page, the tool shows today's Bangkok colors for work (Dech), money (Sri), love, protection (Montri) and health (Ayu), plus the color to avoid (Kalakini). Add your birth day for a personal reading.
Should I follow the color of the day or the color of my birth day?
Both are common. The daily chart is the most followed because it works for everyone. The birth day chart is more personal and stays the same all week for each goal. In personal mode the tool combines the two: it starts from your birth day and also avoids the day's Kalakini color.
What is the Kalakini color, and is it really forbidden?
It is the color of the body in the last place of the wheel, which tradition sees as unfavorable. Many Thais avoid it for an interview, a signing or an important event. It is a belief: nothing stops you from wearing it, and no color decides how your day will go.
Why do different websites give different colors?
There are two families of charts. The classic Taksa wheel used here always gives the same colors for a given day. Some astrologers publish a yearly chart adjusted to the Thai or Chinese year, which changes from year to year and from one astrologer to another. The popular birth day colors (yellow Monday, purple Saturday) also follow a different convention from the Taksa colors.
I was born on a Wednesday evening. Which day should I pick?
In Thai practice, a birth on Wednesday between 6 pm and 6 am the next morning belongs to Rahu (วันพุธกลางคืน), which has its own wheel: choose "Wednesday night". If you only know your date, the tool can work out your day; add the time if you know it.
I was born before dawn. Does it count as the day before?
In Thai astrology the day starts at sunrise, set at 6 am. A birth at 4 am on a Friday therefore counts as Thursday. Your civil date stays Friday; this is a convention of astrology only.
What color should I wear for love or charm?
The Taksa wheel has no slot just for love. The most common reading puts charm and attraction under Sri; other astrologers use Montri, the goodwill others show you. The tool shows Sri first and Montri as a second choice.
