How it works

  1. Pythagorean numerology gives each Latin letter a digit from 1 to 9: A J S are 1, B K T are 2, and so on up to I R, which are 9. The vowels (A, E, I, O, U) give the soul urge, the consonants the personality, all the letters the expression. Each total is reduced to one digit, except 11, 22 and 33.

  2. The life path and the birthday number come from the date; the personal year combines the day and month of birth with the current year. Together these six numbers form the classic numerology “profile”.

  3. A Thai name has no defined value in this system, which was built for the Latin alphabet: the official transcription (the one in the passport) is used. Two different transcriptions give different numbers, a reminder of the symbolic nature of the exercise.

  4. Numerology is not a science and predicts nothing. Like a horoscope or a light-hearted personality test, it offers a vocabulary for thinking about yourself; take what speaks to you, leave the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Which name should I use: birth, everyday, married?
Tradition uses the full name at birth for the core numbers. An everyday name can be calculated separately, as an extra “layer”.
Should Y count as a vowel?
Schools differ. This tool counts it as a consonant, the most common usage; any difference changes only one number out of six.
My name has accents or foreign letters.
Accents are ignored (É becomes E); letters outside the Latin alphabet are not counted. For a Thai, Chinese or Arabic name, use the official Latin transcription.
What do I do with a master number?
Read it on two levels: its own meaning (11, 22, 33) and that of its reduction (2, 4, 6), which describes daily life when the master number's potential is not activated.
