Quit smoking savings calculator

How it works

  1. The savings are a simple calculation: cigarettes per day, divided by the number in a pack, multiplied by its price. In Thailand a pack costs between 70 and 150 ฿ in 2026 depending on the brand, most of it tax.

  2. If you enter your quit date, the tool counts the days already won: money saved and cigarettes not smoked since that day.

  3. The timeline of benefits follows the milestones published by the World Health Organization and the US Centers for Disease Control. It applies to someone who stops completely; every cigarette avoided counts, but the major gains come from quitting altogether.

  4. Quitting alone is possible, but support doubles your chances: nicotine replacement (patches and gum, available in pharmacies), a consultation, support groups, and the Quitline 1600.

These tools give general information. They do not replace the advice of a doctor or a qualified professional.

Frequently asked questions

How many attempts does it take on average?
Several, often 3 to 6. A relapse does not erase progress: each attempt teaches you what triggers the craving, and the next one is more likely to succeed.
Will I gain weight?
On average 2 to 4 kg in the first year, mostly because appetite returns and food tastes better. Moving a little more and planning healthy snacks limits it; the benefit of quitting is far greater.
Do e-cigarettes help?
They are less harmful than smoked tobacco but not risk-free, and in Thailand selling and importing them is illegal. Classic nicotine replacement remains the recommended route.
How long do withdrawal symptoms last?
Physical withdrawal peaks in the first 3 days and fades within 2 to 4 weeks. Habit cravings (coffee, breaks, evenings out) can return for longer, but each lasts only a few minutes.
